Disadvantage Accommodations

The accommodation for disadvantages according to § 24 General Examination Regulations (APB) is an instrument to create equal opportunities and participation in studies and to avoid discrimination. § 20 (3) Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) speaks of “a disability or a serious illness”. We check for and approve a disadvantage accommodation for long-lasting or permanent impairments after receiving confirmation by a specialised doctor. The specialised doctor also formulates pointers/recommendations for the configuration of the disadvantage accommodation. In these cases, a granted accommodation usually lasts for two examination periods; corresponding follow-up certificates will be issued promptly upon presentation of a specialised doctor's confirmation.

In the implementation of this measure, we in the Department of Law and Economics work according to general guidelines and a coordinated process: Office for Student Affairs – Examination Board – subject examiners.

The application documents are received by post or electronically at the Office for Student Affairs . In coordination with the Examination Board, the student receives a certificate that should be submitted to all relevant research groups of the TU in good time, i.e. two weeks before the examination. The implementation should be confirmed.
